How do you get there? The dolmus drives along the bays and back, but you can go there on your own as well. You pass the new harbor and dock. The first bay you will arrive is called “1 st Samanlik”. Local families come here often to picnic and to swim. If you drive further you will find “2 nd Samanlik”. A bit further is “Kuleli” bay and thereafter you will find “Boncuklu” bay. At the cafeteria of “Boncuklu” bay you can order tea in a “semaver” (old fashioned Turkish teapot). There are more bays further along the same road. Legend:

An old captain and his son set course towards land to get water. The boy comes on shore, sees beautiful Belcekiz and falls in love with the girl at first sight. She has the same feelings for him, but the boy has to return to his father quickly with the drink water. Every time the boy comes on shore to get water, he sees the girl and they spend time together. One day there is a heavy storm coming up, which father and son cannot avoid. The young man states that he saw a bay earlier, which is ideal to shelter. The old skipper believes that the only thing his son can think of is this girl, that he does not care about the boat sinking and that he uses this as an excuse to meet her again. While they are discussing, the waves get higher and higher and the boat gets dragged towards the rocks. In the meanwhile the discussion leads to a big fight. The man hits his son with the paddle the son falls in the sea. At that moment the sky clears. The sea calms down, the waves fade away.. and the old man sees the bay which his son was talking about. He realizes what he has done and that his son was telling the truth, but... it is too late, because his son is not longer there. Belcekiz sees the body of her beloved washed ashore on the rocks. Deeply hurt she throws herself off the rocks into the deep waters. Since this dramatic happening, the place where the boy drowned is called “Ölüdeniz (dead sea)” and the place where the girl passed away is called “Belcekiz”.
